Valdemar Tomaševski: I would like to thank all the voters and people involved in the electoral campaign

The press conference with the participation of most of the presidential candidates of Lithuania took place in the Palace of the Grand Dukes in Vilnius last Monday, 13 May. Valdemar Tomaševski, Chairman of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance (EAPL-CFA) and the Member of the European Parliament also took part in the conference.

Valdemar Tomaševski thanked everybody who voted for him. He also expressed his satisfaction with the high attendance during elections. EAPL-CFA chairman thanked everyone involved in the electoral campaign and members of electoral commissions for their hard work.

When speaking about the results of the elections, Tomaševski congratulated the candidates who got to the second round. But when commenting on his own result of 4 percent Tomaševski said, that he expected it to be better. However, he underlined that presidential elections are governed by their own laws and voters often, despite everything, vote for the favorites, even when they know their candidate and support his electoral program. Gitanas Nausėda has won in 46 out of 60 self-governments of Lithuania, Ingrida Šimonytė – in 8 and abroad, Saulius Skvernelis and Valdemar Tomaševski – in 3. Other 5 candidates, including V. P. Andriukaitis, did not manage to win in any self-government, although Social Democrats won the most seats of councillors (274) during the municipal elections that took place two months ago. There were also even 13 Social Democrats who won the direct elections of the mayors.

EAPL-CFA chairman won in the Vilnius and Šalčininkai districts and in Visaginas. More than 62 percent of voters of Šalčininkai district voted for him what is kind of a record of these elections.

All in all Tomaševski has won in 112 electoral districts (6% of all the districts). He won in all of the 36 electoral districts of the Šalčininkai district, in almost all the electoral districts of the Vilnius district (43), in 13 electoral districts of Visaginas and in 3 electoral districts in the Vilnius City and in the Švenčionys districts, in 2 of the Trakai disctrict and in 1 of the Širvintos and Zarasai districts.

When asked about his decision for whom to vote during the second round of presidential elections, Tomaševski said, that voters need to make their decisions themselves.

He was also asked about his predictions regarding the elections to the European Parliament. According to Tomaševski, the forecast is positive and he hopes for a great support.

When speaking about his own future on the Lithuanian political stage after the last elections, Tomaševski said that despite the fact that his results were worse than before, he still managed to get more votes in some districts than 5 years ago. This means that people appreciate hard work based on Christian values. Therefore, the forecast is good. More and more Lithuanians will choose parties conducting an honest policy and caring about every resident in the future. And the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance is exactly like that.
