The Main Board of the Association of Poles in Lithuania has issued a statement condemning the actions of the Kremlin, in which it also calls for prayer for peace in Europe and around the world. Read more
The ‘Madrit Summit’ – meeting of leaders of European patriotic, libertarian, Christian and centre-right parties – took place on 28th and 29th January. The main message of the summit was ‘Defend Europe’. The meeting was hosted by Santiago Abascal, leader of the Spanish party Vox. Party leaders from all over Europe came to Madrid to support a Europe of Homelands based on Christian values. Read more
Due to the huge increase of raw materials’ prices, bills for heating and water increased too. In response to this situation, the faction of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance of the Vilnius District Municipality Council has registered a draft resolution, which had foreseen as much as 50% heating subsidy for residents as of January 2022. The Vilnius District Municipality would spend up to 2 million euros for this purpose. Read more
The Seimas of Lithuania has adopted the draft Act on the spelling of names and surnames allowing to use Latin letter when writing ones’ names. Poles in Lithuania will only be able to use the letter „w” among others approved („w”, „x”, „q”). The changes do not include the letters with diacritics, that are important to Lithuanian Poles: ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ó, ś, ź, ż, dź, dż. If the President signs the bill, it will come into force on 1st May 2022. Read more
MPs of Lithuania and Poland as well as Members of the European Parliament protecting Dieveniškės inhabitants
Last Monday, on 19th July, local residents of Dieveniškės met with the Member of the Polish Parliament Anna Maria Siarkowska, Member of the Lithuanian Parliament Česlav Olševski and Member of the European Parliament Valdemar Tomaševski. The meeting concerned the outrageous attempt of the conservative-liberal coalition to establish a centre for about a thousand Islamic economic migrants in the centre of the town. It has to be mentioned that an extraordinary session of the Šalčininkai District Self-Government Council took place on 16th July where Councillors unanimously opposed the idea to establish the centre for immigrants in Dieveniškės. However, Minister Arvydas Anušauskas ignored the decision of the Council and the will of the inhabitants and is still trying to impose his plan. Read more
Česlav Olševski, Member of the Seimas from the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania-Christian Families Alliance, raised the issue of land restitution once again during the morning session of the Seimas (during the so-called government hour,) last Thursday, on 10th June. The subject of finalizing the process of restoring property rights, especially relevant to the inhabitants of the Vilnius Region, hardly appears in the public space anymore, although it is a priority for the state. Valdemar Tomaševski: “the future of Europe should be based on Christian values”. A very concise conference, organized by ECR and EAPL-CFA, was held in Vilnius.

Easter is the time of rebirth of faith in the strength of Christ and traditions. It is a time of hope, despite conditions that are sometimes difficult to accept and explain.
