Funding for minority schools was reduced and the preparations for the closure of minority schools during the so-called reform are in progress. People cannot use the original spelling of their names in the identity documents. In addition, the process of land (plundered by the Communist System) restitution to Poles in Lithuania is being trammelled. Recently, even a cultural life of minorities was stricken. The oldest representative song and dance team 'Wilia' was bereft of 3 posts by the governmental authority and left with only one. Moreover, the funding was decreased as well. Rights of national minorities in Lithuania should be respected accordingly to the EU standards under the EU slogan - 'United in Diversity'.
