Last Monday, on 19th October, Representatives of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) met with the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance (EAPL-CFA) in the Seimas of Lithuania. The meeting was organized in connection with flagrant violations of the electoral law during the parliamentary elections currently taking place in Lithuania. ‘The Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance (EAPL-CFA) condemned the violence and the use of force against peaceful protesters in Belarus in the first days after the elections in this neighbouring country,’ said Valdemar Tomaševski, the chairman of this party in an interview for ‘Delfi’. In the opinion of the politician, ‘there is even no question about the fact that our party justifies such actions (of Lukashenko – author’s note), and we said about it last Tuesday, right after force was used against people. Easter is a time of revival of faith in the strength of Christ and traditions. A time of hope which is here despite the conditions that are difficult to accept and explain. We are currently going through the pandemic period, which often results in isolation, loneliness and atomization of societies in the world, but also in more and more numerous heart reflexes, mutual assistance actions, strengthening family ties and spiritual unity with the Church’s community and God.

Due to the threat of coronavirus in Lithuania, educational institutions, all non-food stores have been closed since Monday, the activity of medical institutions and offices has been limited. Moreover, various meetings, not only large ones, are cancelled. Read more
Poles in Lithuania are consistently strengthening their position. This was again confirmed in 2019, the year of triple elections in this country and the entry of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance (EAPL-CFA) into the government coalition, which is a sensation on a global scale. Thanks to their unity, Poles in Lithuania have a real impact on their country’s politics, what no other Polish community in another country could do. National minorities in Lithuania make up around 16% inhabitants, Poles (6.5 %) are the largest of them and reside in the Vilnius Region. They are united around the Association of Poles in Lithuania, whose political representation is the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance. It is worth writing a few words about this peculiar phenomenon of unity and perfect self-organization of Wilniuks and their successes. Read more

Last week, news concerning the obtainment of the certificate by the advisors to the President Gitanas Nausėda about the alleged employment of 20 people of Polish nationality by the Minister of Transport and Communications Jaroslav Narkevič was spread. This information was widely commented and discussed. Presidential Office reports were not confirmed. However, 12 people of Polish nationality, not belonging to any party, were employed not by the Minister, but by managers of companies subject to the ministry. Read more
